As the present salary is only slightly above the prewar rate, and less than what we have been receiving after the grant of the temporary war bonus of 20 %, also our percentage of increase is much lower than that granted to any class of officer in the Government Service, we have confidence in requesting that the remuneration of our respective offices be fixed at £480 rising by equal annual instalments of £20 to a maximum of £600 per annum,

We also wish to draw your attention to the fact that with this increase we should be on the same grade as regards maximum salary as the Electrician of the Department, and we consider it a duty to ourselves and to the posts that we hold to bring this to your notice particularly as on the prewar rate our maximum salary was £20 higher than the emoluments of this officer,

We also wish to refer to the separation allowance of $50 per month that was allowed to officers with their wives and families in England,

Under the new scale this has been abolished, and two of the signatories to this petition are thereby affected, having their families in England.

As we are some of the lowest paid officers of the Service previously entitled to this allowance, we feel the loss to a much greater extent than officials drawing a higher salary.

We trust that the various points enumerated herain

may receive your favourable consideration,
